A Visually Striking and Reader-Friendly VSME Report for Finlayson & Co

We helped Finlayson & Co build their first VSME report.

Client name: Finlayson & Co
Time of implementation: 2025

Finlayson & Co wanted to create a sustainability report according to the VSME broad module that would serve not only investors and other stakeholders but especially consumers and license partners. The goal was to build a scannable, visual report where sustainability information is combined with engaging storytelling, visualizations, and concrete examples of the brands’ sustainability work.

How Sustainability Was Made Concrete for Consumers

We were responsible for the concept, structure, visual design, layout, and editing of the report. The work began with a workshop where we defined the report’s goals, target groups, content priorities, and visual approach.

We created a structure for the report that combines information required by the VSME reporting framework with communicative highlights and brand-specific pages. The report highlighted, for example, the impact of material choices, circular economy solutions, supply chain responsibility, and staff wellbeing. Visualizations and infographics made the data easy to grasp and engaging.

A central feature of the report was the sustainability highlights from Finlayson, Makia, Vallila, and Reino & Aino, where sustainability work was made concrete through each brands’ own goals, challenges, and successes. This created a report that is both a unified group-level entity and a communication tool supporting the identity of each brand.

A Sustainability Report That Also Works as a Communication Tool

The finished report brings together Finlayson & Co’s sustainability goals, metrics, and practical actions into a clear whole that meets reporting requirements and also serves as a communication tool. The report made sustainability work visible through concrete examples, impactful visualizations, and an easy-to-understand structure. The result supports Finlayson & Co’s goal of making sustainability a visible part of the brand experience and the business.

The cooperation with Kaskas was seamless. They understood both the visual and content needs of our creative corporate group well, and the project progressed effortlessly and on schedule. We are very pleased with both the process and the end result,” says Mika Martikainen, Director of Finlayson & Co.

We carried out the report in collaboration with Ovido, a software company specializing in product data management, and UseLess, a company specializing in carbon footprint calculations.
