Sustainability is an important part of Nitor’s business strategy, but the company had not produced a sustainability report before 2024. By early 2025, the time was right: stakeholders were increasingly interested in responsibility, and the EU’s CSRD provided a clear framework for reporting.
What does a CSRD-inspired sustainability report mean?
Nitor is not directly subject to the CSRD, but decided to structure its report according to the directive’s principles and framework. This way, they were able to address the needs of different stakeholders.
“The project confirmed that even though we are not directly in scope of the CSRD, we can use it to produce a clear, understandable, and transparent report. Stakeholders now often expect standardized reporting from their partners,” summarizes Ari Koli, Nitor’s Head of Sustainability.

In the project, we combined CSRD requirements with communicative needs. We created visualizations and summaries that can later be used in communications and marketing. As a result, Nitor received a stakeholder-relevant and versatile sustainability report — a so-called transition report that naturally paves the way towards full CSRD-compliant reporting.
Kaskas’ ready-made reporting and layout templates will also make Nitor’s reporting easier in the coming years.
The sustainability report was born through effective collaboration
The project’s tight schedule required effective and flexible project management from Kaskas. For Nitor, it was important that the work was not completely outsourced. Kaskas conceptualized, edited, sparred, proofread, and designed the report.
“Our active role in collecting and shaping the information further strengthened our internal understanding of sustainability,” Koli concludes.
Nitor’s finalized sustainability report brings together all the sustainability work carried out in 2024 and builds a path towards future reporting. In line with the company’s strategy, the report emphasizes themes such as accessibility and climate emissions, which were enriched with illustrative infographics.
