Challenge
The situation of technology industry experts and research funding in Finland is worse than public debate would have you think. The Technology Industries of Finland Centennial Foundation and the Finnish Foundation for Technology Promotion wanted to bring attention to the issue and engage in public debate with an impactful pamphlet that shatters false conceptions and makes visible the foundations’ goals in education and research funding.
Solution
We concept developed and wrote a pamphlet for the foundations that presents and debunks four myths about the technology industry. Each myth was also accompanied by concrete solutions and means for decision-makers, for example, to improve the situation of technology industry experts and research funding. The pamphlet was based on a research report commissioned by the foundations, other research sources and expert interviews. The myths concerned the number of people applying to the technology industry and education in the field, innovation and research funding, the employment situation of doctoral degree holders and Finland’s attractiveness to international talent. We designed the pamphlet’s visual look and layout, and made infographics for it.
